According to reports, the Boston Air Traffic Control Station received a notification from an Air Atlanta Icelandic cargo plane on the 9th that a horse escaped when it climbed to an altitude of 9,450 meters.

According to a video on the YouTube channel, one of the pilots said, “As far as flying is concerned, we have no problem,” but “we can’t turn the horse back.” The airline later confirmed that the content of the video was true.

John Cuticelli, director of the Animal Quarantine and Export Company at Kennedy Airport, said the cargo plane carried a total of 15 horses and encountered turbulence not long after takeoff. A horse jumped out of the trap after being frightened. One foot got stuck in the fence and the other foot was still in the trap. “The horse jumped out and tried to get out of the fence with its front foot, but it got stuck.” “This is how it goes.” This is the second time in as many years that I have seen this happen. We transport thousands of horses every year and it is unfortunate, but the horses are frightened.”

According to the video, the air traffic control station allowed the cargo plane to return to Kennedy Airport and at the same time dumped 20 tons of fuel east of Nantucket, Massachusetts because the plane was too heavy. The pilot also requested that a veterinarian be present upon landing to help move other horses and free the trapped horse. After the plane landed, the veterinarian determined that the trapped horse’s injuries were too serious and decided to euthanize it.
