Shortly following 7:30 a.m. on Monday, the Ried Volunteer Fire Department was alerted to the exhibition center with the keyword “runaway animal.” According to information from the FF Ried, a calf escaped during loading work on the premises of the Simmental Breeding Association (FIH). The fire brigade and police were alerted and cordoned off the exhibition area. With the help of FIH employees, the animal was brought back into the stable following around an hour.
But that wasn’t enough, because at 3:11 p.m. the fire brigade had to move out to the exhibition center once more, according to their own information. Another incident occurred during loading work on the FIH premises. The cow ran towards the city. “Unfortunately, four people were slightly injured in the Brucknerstrasse area when they tried to escape. They were looked following by the Red Cross,” says the FF Ried. Luckily, the aggressive cow then ran into an inner courtyard that might be cordoned off. Only following the animal was immobilized with several tranquilizer darts might it be captured and transported away.
