THE German government is concerned about the escalation of the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, and is urging a diplomatic solution to prevent a regional conflict. Berlin also highlighted in a statement the suffering of Lebanese civilians caught in the crossfire, stressing that many of them are not involved in the conflict but live in fear and terror.
“The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah must not turn into a regional conflict,” he warned, as reported by Anadolu, Monday (23/9).
He stressed that such an outcome would have dire and long-term consequences for the entire region. Berlin stressed that further escalation was not inevitable and urged a diplomatic resolution.
The statement stressed that all parties involved bear the responsibility to find a peaceful solution to the crisis. Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in a cross-border war since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza, which has killed nearly 41,400 victims, mostly women and children, following a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7 last year.
