Alexandria – Mohamed Amer:
Today, Monday, a wave of bad weather and rising sea waves in Alexandria caused the erosion of part of Edward Kharrat Beach, the occurrence of cracks, and the slope of the Alexandria Corniche wall, 20 meters long.
Major General Muhammad al-Sharif, Governor of Alexandria, said that Alexandria is exposed to a wave of bad weather, wind activity and unusually high sea waves, which caused erosion of Edward El-Kharrat Beach.
Al-Sharif added that there has been full coordination with the North Coast Reconstruction Authority, the Beaches Protection Authority, the Traffic Department, the neighborhood, and all concerned agencies, to immediately start treating the sidewalk and the fence.
He pointed out that the Arab Contractors Company and the competent authorities began to deal with the erosion by laying concrete blocks in preparation for laying blocks, protecting the sidewalk and the beach, and dealing with the cracks and what was damaged by the waves.
The governor explained that a yellow tape and guiding signs were set up in the affected area, to warn citizens to take caution and not to walk in that specific area for their safety.
He stressed that all the executive authorities in the governorate should constantly raise the level of readiness and vigilance to deal immediately with the effects of the bad weather wave that the city is witnessing for the second day.
