Erman Kunter: Change in sport

Our country has entered the election atmosphere. Naturally, promises collide. The general mood is an expectation of change in all layers of society. It is clear that sports is not just a tool for the fight once morest drugs, and that a law covering not only football but all branches, especially Olympic sports, should be enacted quickly. As far as I can see, we are becoming a society that thinks that going to school can be solved by making use of free time, and the fight once morest drugs can be solved by doing sports.

İSTİHDAM ALANI!

The main rules of the sport are determined by the state in all advanced countries, except for the USA. The execution may change, but the policy of the sport does not. But in our country, sports are seen as a field of employment, “ignoring staffing and the merit, knowledge and experience of those who are close to themselves”.

TELL MY CONSE

We have everything you need, from the establishment of high-level teams that are far from transparency by the municipalities, to the teams of state institutions whose main task should be service, and which exist with the money they collect from the public in return for the service they provide. Now if you say to me “We serve sports” (!) my answer is very simple “Tell me regarding it to my cone”!

The delegate structure of the federation elections is a separate comedy. Let me give an example from basketball. While Anadolu Efes, the Euroleague champion of the last 2 years, has 3 delegates, 4 delegates of a public institution’s club vote. Referees, national athletes, trainers, in short, workers do not have any voting rights. Oh, I forgot, there are some votes (!) that are determined by drawing lots that are not clear how they were drawn. There is much to be done from the ground up, from federations to spreading sports to the grassroots and school sports policy.

KEEP POLICY AWAY

The most important thing that gives me hope is that there is not much need for a financial resource, which always seems to be a major obstacle to do these things. The important thing is to make the right plan and implement it. For the first time, keep politics out of the federation elections, provide 50,000 physical education teachers with adequate branching training, attract them, tidy up private sports schools and facilitate their club formation. Support unionization and thus give all strata a voice. My feelings for now show that some work has been done on this subject piece by piece. It is imperative to bring them together as soon as possible.

PREPARES YOU FOR LIFE

Sport improves competition with yourself or with an opponent. In this way, it prepares you for life. The recent decision of the French basketball league board is a great example of competition. A ceiling was imposed on the athlete contracts of the clubs. The aim is to increase competition in the national league. Maybe this decision will negatively affect the results in the Europa league, but that is not their priority. We will examine this issue in detail in future articles.
