Red Auerbach, Jerry Sloan, Gregg Popovich… and therefore Erik Spoelstra. After inheriting the title of coach in 2008, the man brilliantly led his troops to two NBA titles in five finals played. In 2012 then 2013, with the Tres Amigos as the figurehead of its workforce.
The beginnings in 2010 were not the easiest, however, since Erik found himself on an ejection seat after only twenty games. This award is one more achievement for an already well-stocked career. His winning ratio with South Beach? 59%, that’s very honest. A milestone that also reflects a coach’s confidence and love for his franchise. Also remember that in 2014, Riko became the third coach in history to take his team to the NBA Finals four times in a row. In 2019, he became the most successful coach in Miami history, under the eyes of Uncle Pat. A beautiful symbol.
700 victories in the NBA is strong. 700 victories with the same team is also proof of a capacity for innovation and an in-depth understanding of the game and its developments. Never taken aback, having always adapted his team to the overall tactical structure of the league, Erik should thus continue to win a little more in Florida, since his contract currently runs until 2024.
