NEW YORK. Among Slovak hockey players, only defenseman Erik Černák scored on Tuesday night.
He contributed to Tampa Bay’s emphatic victory over Colorado. “Blesky” scored eight shots on the opponent’s goalkeeper, winning 8:2.
Košičan scored at the end of the first period when Anthony Cirelli’s cannon hit the goal. It was his sixth assist of the season.
He played 16 minutes and 13 seconds, adding two assists, two shots on goal and three points to the statistics.

Brandon Hagel had five assists in the high triumph, and he collected four of them in the opening period, tying the league record. Before him, only Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux did it.
“I found out after the game that my name is going to be associated with Lemieux and Gretzky, that’s great. They all played very well, if it keeps going like this, good things are going to happen,” Hagel told nhl.com.
Jake Guentzel scored two goals and Nikita Kučerov had a 1+2 record. Czech striker Ivan Ivan scored both Avalanche goals.
Martin Fehérváry also had reason to be happy. His Capitals took two points from Florida with a 4-1 victory.
The native of Bratislava spent 18 minutes and 51 seconds on the ice, recorded two shots on goal, five points, two blocks and a minor penalty for rudeness when he had a minor scuffle with Matthew Tkachuk.

Defender Jakob Chychrun scored the winning goal at the beginning of the third period. Lars Eller scored twice as the Capitals snapped a two-game losing streak and won for the first time since captain Alex Ovechkin was injured.
Goalkeeper Logan Thompson recorded 20 saves, surpassed only by defender Niko Mikkola. “Panthers” forward Sam Reinhart came up empty-handed and lost his 13-game point streak.
The third one who celebrated the victory is Tomáš Tatar. His Devils beat Nashville 5-2 on home ice.
The Slovak veteran, despite his great last performance, did not get more space on the ice. He played 10 minutes and 24 seconds, recorded a minus, two shots on goal and a point.
The man of the match was Swiss Devils captain Nico Hischier, who scored his first NHL hat trick and ended a 10-game scoring streak.
In the end, he sped up with an assist
Pospíšil skated for Calgary in the Canadian derby in Ottawa for more than 15 minutes, scored one plus point and, finally, the sixth assist of the season.
Statisticians added it to him when he participated in the last goal of the duel from Nazem Kadri’s stick.
Pospíšil scored in the second match in a row and in the third of the past four. The Senators stopped a series of five losses, their victory was decided by the goal of Brady Tkachuk, who made it 4-2 in the third period.
The Flames reduced the score to 3-4 after just 39 seconds of the game without a goalie thanks to Kadri. Captain Tkachuk added an assist to the goal, Drake Batherson had the same tally. The first goal in the NHL was scored by 24-year-old Ottawa forward Cole Reinhardt.
Montgomery’s winning premiere
Jim Montgomery succeeded in his debut at the St. Louis, when he led the Blues to a 5-2 victory on the ice of the New York Rangers. The former Boston Bruins coach made his debut with the new club after replacing Drew Bannister.
“I liked how we played in attack and defense and when we needed to, the goalkeeper (Joel Hofer) held us up.
We played with dedication, one fought for the other, this is the hockey the Blues play,” said Montgomery.
The first two goals of the season were scored by Zach Bolduc, the former Rangers player Pavel Bučnevich closed the score into an empty net. The Blues sent 43 shots at goalkeeper Igor Šestorkin, which is the most in the season.
Both goals of the “riders” were scored by Will Cuylle, Brett Berard recorded an assist in the NHL premiere. The Rangers lost for the third time in a row.
Netimes the NHL scoring leader
Martin Nečas scored his 12th goal of the season with two minutes and seven seconds left in the third period to seal Carolina’s victory over Dallas.
Nečas broke the deadlock, and then Andrej Svečnikov converted into an empty net to make the final score 6:4. With 35 points (12+23) in 21 games, the Czech forward took first place in NHL productivity.
Sebastian Aho also shone, collecting four points (1+3), Seth Jarvis celebrated his return from injury with a goal and two assists.
“I felt better than I thought. It took me a while to adjust to the speed,” said Jarvis, who missed seven games with an upper-body injury.
Hellebuyck the hero of Winnipeg
Connor Hellebuyck stopped 43 shots and helped Winnipeg to a 4-1 victory on the ice of Minnesota.
Alex Iafallo scored two goals in the battle between the leading teams of the Western Conference, the Jets won the third of the last four duels and with 36 points they are still the best team in the NHL.
“They played hard, they played hard, they had a lot of shots, but we played phenomenally,” said Hellebyuck, who picked up his 15th win in his 17th game of the season.
Only three goalkeepers before him in history – Yevgeny Nabokov (San Jose Sharks, 2008-09), Brent Johnson (St. Louis Blues, 2001-02) and Tiny Thompson (Boston Bruins, 1929-30) have done something similar.
Kirill Kapritov returned to the Wild lineup after a one-game break caused by an injury, he had five shots, but no points.

Hockey Madness: A Night of Slapshots and Scoring Sprees!
Ah, hockey! The only sport where you can turn a rink into a full-blown ice boxing match, and it’s still considered a gentleman’s game! Last night, the Slovak boys were out in full force, showcasing their talent as if they were auditioning for a one-way ticket to the NHL Hall of Fame. Let’s dive into this chaotic ballet on ice!
The Showdown: Tampa Bay vs. Colorado
First off, we’ve got the Tampa Bay Lightning, who clearly left their defense at home while they scored an astounding 8-2 victory over the Colorado Avalanche. They treated the Avalanche like a piñata at a child’s birthday party, swinging wildly and landing heavy blows. Erik Černák poked his head out of the Slovak lineup to score, adding a cheeky assist to his stat sheet, proving that he’s not just handing out gifts, but scoring them too!
Brandon Hagel, bless his heart, was so close to bringing the ghost of Wayne Gretzky back from retirement that he probably had to check for white gloves in the locker room. With five assists, he tied a league record previously held by the greats themselves. If that’s not a night to remember, I don’t know what is!
‘I’m Not Just a Player, I’m an Artist’: The Cirelli Show
Anthony Cirelli’s goal courtesy of Černák? A masterpiece! The kind of shot that makes you wonder if Cirelli’s day job is painting canvases because that puck looked like it was destined for the Louvre. Meanwhile, Jake Guentzel and Nikita Kučerov also chipped in, showing that Tampa Bay is more stacked than a buffet at a weight loss convention!
Capitals Savor Sweet Victory
Now, swing your attention to the Capitals, who battled their way to a 4-1 win over the Florida Panthers. Martin Fehérváry skated around like a man possessed, racking up stats that would impress even the most seasoned of hockey nerds. Two shots, five hits, and a minor penalty? That’s what we call a double whammy!
Battle of the Goalkeepers: Hellebuyck’s Heroics
Over in Minnesota, Connor Hellebuyck was stopping more pucks than a bouncer on a Saturday night! With a whopping 43 saves, he led the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-1 victory against the Wild. This guy is playing goal while the rest of us are just trying to find a decent parking spot!
Montgomery’s Winning Premiere
And let’s give a round of applause to Jim Montgomery, who made his debut coaching the St. Louis Blues with a 5-2 win against the New York Rangers. His strategy? “Score more goals than the other team!” Brilliant! That’s the kind of logic that deserves a Nobel Prize in sports science!
NHL Scoring Leader: Martin Nečas
Back to the analytics—Martin Nečas is not just living the dream; he’s putting up numbers that would make even the coldest statistician smile. With 35 points already, can someone just slap a crown on his head and declare him the king of the ice?
And as the NHL rolls on, with ferocious fights, crazy goals, and players making more headlines than Hollywood actors, one thing is for sure—this season is set to be a mixtape of pure entertainment.
Bottom Line
Whether you’re a die-hard hockey fan or just in it for the hot dogs and nachos, last night offered a little something for everyone. The pucks are flying, the players are brawling, and the ice is becoming a veritable runway for sports drama. Bring on the next match; let’s see what these ice gladiators have in store for us!
NEW YORK. In a standout performance among Slovak hockey players, defenseman Erik Černák found the back of the net on Tuesday night, providing a significant contribution to Tampa Bay’s commanding 8:2 win against Colorado.
The “Blesky” fired eight shots at the opposing goaltender, showcasing their offensive might throughout the game. Černák’s goal came just before the first period concluded, capitalizing on a powerful shot from teammate Anthony Cirelli, marking his sixth assist of the season.
In a performance that lasted 16 minutes and 13 seconds, Černák not only scored but also tallied two assists, securing three points in the game—an impressive addition to his season statistics.
VIDEO: Erik Černák’s assist for Cirelli’s goal
Brandon Hagel was instrumental in Tampa Bay’s victory, dishing out five assists, including a remarkable four during the first period, which tied him with legends Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux for the league record. “I found out after the game that my name is going to be associated with Lemieux and Gretzky, that’s great. They all played very well, if it keeps going like this, good things are going to happen,” Hagel shared with nhl.com.
Jake Guentzel added to the scoreboard with two goals, while Nikita Kučerov registered a goal and two assists. From the Avalanche, Czech forward Ivan Ivan accounted for both of his team’s goals.
Martin Fehérváry also had a reason to celebrate as his Capitals broke a two-game losing streak with a decisive 4-1 victory over Florida.
The Bratislava native logged 18 minutes and 51 seconds on the ice, bringing two shots on target, earning five points, and blocking two shots. He received a minor penalty for rudeness when embroiled in a brief altercation with Matthew Tkachuk.

Jakob Chychrun was pivotal in the Capitals’ win, netting the game-winning goal early in the third period, while Lars Eller scored twice, propelling the team forward after losing their previous two matches. The Capitals celebrated their first victory since captain Alex Ovechkin’s injury.
On the defensive side, goalie Logan Thompson made 20 saves, bested only by defender Niko Mikkola, as the “Panthers” forward Sam Reinhart’s 13-game point streak came to an unfortunate end.
The third Slovak player to experience a victory was Tomáš Tatar, whose Devils triumphed against Nashville with a score of 5-2 on their home ice.
Despite a commendable previous performance, the veteran Slovak saw limited ice time, totaling just 10 minutes and 24 seconds. He registered a minus, along with two shots on goal and a point.
The man of the match was Swiss captain Nico Hischier, achieving his first NHL hat trick and breaking through a 10-game scoring drought.
In the end, he sped up with an assist
Martin Pospíšil skated for Calgary during the Canadian derby against Ottawa, playing over 15 minutes and contributing one assist, which marked his sixth of the season.
This point was credited to him when he assisted on Nazem Kadri’s last goal of the match. Pospíšil has now scored in two consecutive games and has achieved points in three of the last four outings. The Senators ended a five-game losing streak, with Brady Tkachuk’s crucial goal sealing the victory at 4-2 in the final period.
In a closely contested matchup, the Flames managed to cut their deficit to 3-4 just 39 seconds after pulling their goalie, thanks to Kadri’s quick strike. Tkachuk, the captain, also contributed an assist to the play, with Drake Batherson matching the effort. Notably, a 24-year-old forward, Cole Reinhardt, celebrated his first NHL goal for the Senators.
Montgomery’s winning premiere
Jim Montgomery achieved victory in his coaching debut with St. Louis, leading the Blues to a convincing 5-2 win against the New York Rangers. The former Boston Bruins coach took the helm after replacing Drew Bannister.
“I liked how we played in attack and defense, and when we needed to, our goaltender Joel Hofer held us up,” Montgomery remarked. “We played with dedication, one fought for the other; this is the hockey the Blues play.”
Zach Bolduc scored twice, marking his first goals of the season, while former Rangers player Pavel Bučnevich sealed the game with an empty-net goal. The Blues registered a staggering 43 shots on the Rangers’ goaltender Igor Šestorkin, the most they’ve recorded this season.
The Rangers’ goals came from Will Cuylle, while Brett Berard notched an assist in his NHL debut. This defeat marks the Rangers’ third consecutive loss.
Netimes the NHL scoring leader
Martin Nečas secured his 12th goal of the season with just over two minutes left in the third period, solidifying Carolina’s 6-4 victory against Dallas.
Nečas’s critical strike broke the tie, and Andrej Svečnikov capitalized by scoring into an empty net, wrapping up the contest. With 35 points accumulated (12 goals and 23 assists) in 21 games, Nečas currently leads the NHL in scoring productivity.
Sebastian Aho also shone brightly, collecting four points (one goal and three assists), while Seth Jarvis celebrated his return from injury with one goal and two assists.
“I felt better than I thought. It took me a while to adjust to the speed,” commented Jarvis, who had missed seven games due to an upper-body injury.
Hellebuyck the hero of Winnipeg
Connor Hellebuyck emerged as the hero for Winnipeg, stopping an impressive 43 shots in a 4-1 victory over Minnesota.
Alex Iafallo stood out with two goals in the fierce battle between the top teams of the Western Conference. The Jets secured their third win in the last four contests, remaining the best team in the NHL with 36 points.
“They played hard, they had a lot of shots, but we played phenomenally,” proclaimed Hellebuyck, who achieved his 15th win in only 17 games this season. He joins an exclusive club of only three goaltenders in NHL history—Yevgeny Nabokov, Brent Johnson, and Tiny Thompson—who have accomplished a similar feat.
Kirill Kaprizov came back to the Wild lineup after a brief absence due to an injury, registering five shots but failing to score.
