New York: India’s Arjun Erigaysi once morest world number one Magnus Carlsen in the Julius Baer Generation Cup final. The 19-year-old Erigeysi secured a ticket to the final following beating Vietnam’s Liam Quang Le in the semi-finals. Carlson defeated Germany’s Vincent Keimer 3-1.
The 19-year-old Indian won the second game following drawing the first set once morest Quang Le. The final match was decisive as the third game was tied once more. The game was held without giving any chance to the opponent.

Malappuram: The 59th State Senior FIDE Rated Chess Championship organized by the Chess Association of Malappuram will be held at Kottakal on September 29 and 30 and October 1 and 2, officials said.
There will be eight matches consisting of two rounds over four days. The four winners will compete in the National Championship in Delhi in November.
