It reported that he, who has a Form 5 education, applied for the Diploma Examination (DSE) in Chinese, English and Mathematics, and ultimately obtained a score of “434”. However, he is not satisfied with this result and said that he will apply for the DSE once more next year and take the economics and civics subjects. The goal is to “score enough” to apply for courses in post-secondary institutions and hope to work as a social worker in Hong Kong in the future.

This is not the first time that Tsang has accepted an “exclusive interview” in prison. In December last year, TVB’s national security law program “Securing the Country with Law”, which was co-produced by the police, aired an interview with Tsang. Zeng Zhijian said that his family had always wanted him to study hard, but he had not listened carefully to what they said before, so he wanted to take advantage of his imprisonment to resume his studies to give his family peace of mind. He also pointed out that he actually wanted to “test the temperature of the water” in taking the three subjects of the DSE this time and “see if he has the heart to read back and whether he has the ability.” He also pointed out that the prison environment is noisy, making it difficult to concentrate and easily distracted. “There are many things that I cannot overcome or control, and there are also many things that I feel unsatisfactory regarding, but I can still choose to continue to face them, so I I will always remind myself to focus.”

Eric Tsang revealed that he will compete in DSE once more next year, hoping to obtain satisfactory results and enter a tertiary institution to work as a social worker in the future. Regarding the recent revision of the Social Worker Registration Regulations, which stipulates that those who commit crimes endangering national security will be permanently delisted. He believes that the nature of the case does not violate the National Security Law, so he may not be unable to work as a social worker. He said, “Even though I may not be able to register as a registered social worker, I can still find other ways to continue working in the social welfare sector. Helping others and helping myself is not limited to the job of social worker.”

Interviewed in prison last year: Don’t be incited and instigated

During the show, Eric Tsang said that as the atmosphere became more and more intense in 2019, “When I saw everyone doing this, I moved forward more and more.” He said that while he was on the run, he “experienced no electricity, insufficient food, and no bed to sleep on. When moving his hiding place, he had to hide in cardboard boxes and be transported as cargo.”

Tsang Chi-kin also pointed out that he participated in the Correctional Services Department’s “Be reasonable along the way” program update program and learned how to manage his emotions. “Think clearly before doing things to avoid being incited and instigated by others, and ultimately bear the consequences.” It’s just us and our families.”

Eric Tsang was shot in the chest by the police during the clashes in Tsuen Wan in 2019. He and three other men arrested in the anti-extradition bill incident were wanted by the court for missing the hearing in 2020 until they were arrested in Pak Tam Chung, Sai Kung in July 2022. The incident revealed that they hid in industrial buildings and did not go out for a long time. When they were arrested, their hair was disheveled and their bodies were thin.

Zeng Zhijian admitted to rioting and assaulting police officers, and three other people admitted to obstructing justice. In October 2023, he was sentenced to a total sentence of 47 months.
