DUkraine is seeking closer cooperation with the Turkish defense industry. President Volodymyr Zelensky said this on Friday following a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Istanbul. He met representatives of several companies and signed “significant documents at the level of the defense ministries” with Turkey. He didn’t give any details.
Zelensky had previously visited a shipyard in Tuzla where corvettes are built for the Ukrainian Navy. The deal had already been agreed before the Russian attack on Ukraine. The Ukrainian president wrote on Platform The defense company Baykar announced in February that it wanted to build a drone factory near Kiev. The company belongs to the family of Erdoğan’s son-in-law.
