Erdogan meets German Chancellor in Washington

Washington – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Washington, DC, on Wednesday.

Anadolu Agency correspondent said that Erdogan met Scholz at the Walter E. Conference Center, on the sidelines of their participation in the NATO summit.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defense Minister Yasar Guler, and Intelligence Agency Chief Ibrahim Kalin.

The President of the Defense Industries Foundation of the Presidency, Haluk Gorgun, and the President’s Senior Advisor for Foreign Policy and Security, Akif Cagatay Kılıç, also attended.

According to a statement issued by the Turkish Presidency’s Communications Department, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and regional and international issues during the meeting.

During the meeting, the Turkish President said that relations between the two countries will continue to develop through the steps that will be taken, and that they will continue to work towards that.

Erdogan stressed that Türkiye is doing its utmost to end tensions in the region through peace.

He stressed the need for all countries to make efforts to achieve this.

Washington will host the NATO summit on Wednesday and Thursday, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary.
