How does the OIC plan to strengthen diplomatic relations among its member states to improve collaboration on global challenges?
**Interview with Ambassador Aisha Hasan of the OIC**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us, Ambassador Hasan. Recently, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan talked about the vital role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in addressing current global challenges. Can you elaborate on what specific initiatives the OIC is focusing on to fulfill this role?
**Ambassador Hasan:** Thank you for having me. President Erdoğan has highlighted several key issues where the OIC can make a significant impact. We are particularly focusing on humanitarian aid and peacekeeping in conflict areas within our member states. One of the ongoing initiatives is our support for humanitarian efforts in Palestine and Syria, where we are mobilizing resources to assist those affected by prolonged conflicts.
**Editor:** That’s essential work. How does the OIC plan to enhance collaboration among its member states to address these challenges effectively?
**Ambassador Hasan:** Collaboration is indeed crucial. The OIC is working on strengthening its diplomatic channels and facilitating dialog among member states to ensure a unified response to crises. We are organizing regular summits to share best practices and coordinate our efforts—particularly in areas like disaster response and health initiatives, especially following the pandemic.
**Editor:** That sounds promising. Given the current geopolitical tensions, how does the OIC intend to position itself as a mediator in international disputes?
**Ambassador Hasan:** The OIC has always promoted diplomacy and dialog. We aim to act as a neutral platform where member states can come together to discuss their differences. Our recently established Conflict Resolution Office plays a vital role in mediating disputes and facilitating negotiations. We believe that through dialog, we can foster understanding and ultimately peace.
**Editor:** Thank you for sharing these insights, Ambassador Hasan. It’s reassuring to know that the OIC is focused on promoting peace and collaboration in such challenging times.
**Ambassador Hasan:** Thank you for the opportunity. We remain committed to upholding the values of solidarity and cooperation among our member states to build a better future for all.
