EPST: No payment of participation fees at Exetat for students displaced from the wars in North Kivu

Kalemie, March 3, 2024- Secondary school finalists displaced from the wars in the North Kivu province are exempt from paying participation fees for the state exam (EXETAT).

This decision was taken on the instructions of the provincial governor of North Kivu, Major General Peter Chirimwami.

Shalumoo Tsambali Salomon, provincial director of North Kivu 2, announced this on Wednesday February 28 in Butembo during an information meeting with parents’ committees, trade unionists, civil society actors and others involved in the system educational on the new measures taken by the provincial authority.

Mathe Saanane, president of civil society who reported on this meeting, said that this decision was taken to facilitate the peaceful participation of all children and finalist students displaced by war in the certification tests, because being under the state of vulnerability.

The decision of the provincial authority also concerns the reduction of these participation fees for non-displaced students from 130,000 Fc to 120,000 Fc, as initially set in the provincial decree.

While welcoming these measures taken by the provincial authority, civil society invites the security services to increase greater efforts to ensure the safety of students and infrastructure to allow children to perform well in the tests when the time comes .
