Forum User Reddit under the pseudonym AurumCR1 noticed that the studio Epic Games in the Chinese social network Weibo commented on the situation with the recent distribution of the courier action Death Stranding in the Epic Games Store services.
Recall, on distribution start The Director’s Cut of Death Stranding became free with additional content and improvementshowever, it was replaced with a standard edition a few hours later.
As it became known, the situation turned out to be the result of an error by a temporary employee of Epic Games, who accidentally installed an extended version of Death Stranding for distribution, and not the usual version.

Epic Games apologized to everyone who wanted to, but did not have time to pick up the director’s edition of Death Stranding, but noted that its agreement with the game’s publisher (505 Games) assumed exactly the standard version.
Epic Games is currently in discussions with the publisher of Death Stranding on how to proceed. Shortly after the distribution on Reddit there were messages about the loss of the director’s edition from the library, but they were not confirmed.

Be that as it may, the distribution of even the regular version of Death Stranding in the Epic Games Store turned out to be very popular. The store did not disclose specific indicators, but due to the influx of people, the first hours functioned intermittently.
Death Stranding debuted in November 2019 on PS4, in July 2020 it made its way to PC (Steam, EGS), and in August 2022 to PC Game Pass. The director’s cut was released in September 2021 on PS5, and in March 2022 appeared on PC.
