Among the key findings of the survey is the surprising finding of a lack of confidence in the government’s ability to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. Environmentalists, who have detailed knowledge and expertise, express their doubts about the government’s ambitious goal. This finding underscores the need for increased efforts and collaboration to address climate change and the transition to a sustainable future.
The National Environmental Services Survey also unearthed insights that underscore the challenges facing the environmental sector. Financing restrictions, rising costs, budget pressures and the current economic situation have become major obstacles. These hurdles must be addressed to ensure the continuity of environmental initiatives to achieve significant change.
In addition, greenwashing was identified as the aspect that most environmental professionals within the sector would like to change.
