Environmental minga held in capital neighborhood to fight Aedes aegypti

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The community of the Botánico neighborhood together with the National Malaria Eradication Service (Senepa) and the Municipality of Asunción held a minga to eliminate the breeding grounds of the Aedes aegypti mosquito.

This inter-institutional initiative reflects the importance of citizen participation in the prevention of vector-borne diseases.

During the day, 30 blocks of the Botánico neighborhood were worked on, with tasks of searching, identifying and inactivating 736 mosquito breeding sites in all types of properties.

The brigades were formed with the participation of workers from different cooperating institutions, who worked in a coordinated manner to reach each home and business in the areas covered.

The activity revealed that among the types of breeding sites found, unusable ones represent 67.4%, useful ones 20.5%, and those of natural origin 12%, reported the Ministry of Public Health.

These actions are carried out with a view to improving the quality of life of citizens and the commitment of all sectors of society to the implementation of healthy practices.
