The deleterious impacts of climate change on the health of populations are undeniable. At the same time, the activities of the health system, while vital, exert significant pressure on the environment. The growing awareness of this reality has generated a series of initiatives by health actors, at local and national scale. The High Authority for Health (HAS), which intends to play its full part in this essential dynamic for the future, presents its roadmap.
After completing its 2019-2024 strategic project with a section on environmental issues and carrying out a first series of actions, the High Authority of Health has adopted a roadmap which provides a strategic and operational framework for its commitment to integrate, structurally and in the long term, environmental health issues into all of its missions and work. In order to help reduce the ecological footprint of the health system while improving the care and support provided, HAS structures its action in accordance with its three fundamental missions:
- Consolidate environmental criteria in health technology assessment and develop their proper use to limit their environmental impact.
- Develop best practice recommendations by encouraging better consideration of environmental issues.
- Strengthen the criteria linked to environmental health in quality measurement care and support
