Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CAMe) Issues Ozone Alert in ZMVM – May 10 Restrictions and Air Quality Updates

The reported that phase 1 of the atmospheric environmental contingency due to ozone is maintained in the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico (ZMVM), as well as the vehicle restrictions for this Friday May 10.

In a statement, the CAMe specified that the persistence of a high pressure system continues, which will generate a dry environment and clear to partly cloudy skies for most of the day, with intense solar radiation and an average maximum temperature of around 30 degrees. .

For this morning and early followingnoon, the wind will be weak and of variable direction, which will lead to the stagnation of pollutants and, in the followingnoon, it is forecast that dispersion will gradually improve due to the predominance of light to moderate wind south-southeast component.

“With these conditions, it is estimated that the air quality will be within the range of bad to very bad,” he indicated.

This is the sixth environmental contingency of the year in the ZMVM, in addition to a regional one that was registered on January 1 in some municipalities of the State of Mexico and mayors of CDMX.
