In Cupertino, California, Apple Park was partially evacuated after the discovery of an envelope containing white powder. Employees on the Apple campus had to leave the premises because of a “possible hazardous materials situation”.
Apple Park is Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California. The famous campus known for its circular shape opened in 2017 after 4 years of construction which cost $5 billion. Yesterday, around noon local time, Apple Park was partially evacuated in emergency because of a ” possible hazardous materials situation ».
An envelope containing white powder suspect was actually discovered on campus. According to the incident report from the Santa Clara County Fire Department, the fire alarm went off on campus and firefighters arrived a few minutes later. Some employees had to evacuate the building before the situation was under control.
Apple Park was able to resume operations during the day
Firefighters finally confirmed that there was no no danger and that employees could go back inside. Apple confirmed this to its employees in an email sent later that day. The firm explained that: authorities concluded that there were no hazardous materials ” and ” all sections [du campus] are open ». Apple Park Operations returned to normal within the day.
However, neither the authorities nor Apple have confirmed the nature of the powder contained in the mysterious envelope. The Apple Park that could be powered in part by Tesla’s “Megapack” batteries in a photovoltaic solar power plant is an emblematic place of the Cupertino company.
