Entry of new monsoon spell in the country, low-lying areas inundated by heavy rain, power suspended – Pakistan

A new monsoon spell has entered the country, due to heavy rains in various cities, low-lying areas have been flooded and electricity supply has been suspended, 9 people and 40 cattle have been trapped in flood relays, while high water levels in Marala, Khanki and Kadirabad in Chenab river. There is a level flood situation and the amount of water in Ravi river is also starting to increase.

Torrential rains have occurred in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, while torrential rains continue intermittently in many cities including Narowal, Mianwali and Bhalwal.

In Larkana and Qamber Shahdad Kot, the low-lying areas were flooded due to heavy rains in the night, electricity supply remained suspended.

There is a high level of flood in Nala Bayan of Shakargarh, according to rescue officials, 9 people and 40 cattle were trapped in the flood relay in Chhatri and Raipur, while operations are on to rescue farmers and shepherds trapped in Nala Bayan.

Flood water has entered dozens of low-lying villages including Chatri Broti, Fatehpur, there is fear of damage to paddy and corn crops on thousands of acres.

Meanwhile, there is severe flooding in Chenab river, the current monsoon spell is predicted to continue till August 25.

NDMA has issued an alert, urban flooding is also likely, there is a risk of landslides in hilly areas.
