50 job seekers from ÖIF German courses were able to apply for open positions / Integration State Councilor Winkler emphasizes the importance of labor market integration
Vienna (OTS) – On Thursday, January 11, 2024, a career platform organized by the Austrian Integration Fund (ÖIF) took place in cooperation with McDonald’s in Eisenstadt. At the ÖIF career platform, 50 participants from ÖIF German courses with the course provider ZIB Training learned regarding entry and employment opportunities with limited German skills at McDonald’s. The participants were also able to apply for open positions and conduct initial job interviews directly on site. The ÖIF organizes career platforms across Austria in collaboration with around 40 companies such as SPAR, POST AG, IKEA and McDonald’s to connect job-seeking refugees and displaced people in ÖIF German courses with companies in need of workers.
On Thursday, the State Councilor for Integration in Burgenland, Daniela Winkler, also got an idea of the career platform on site: “Several factors are responsible for successful integration. An important measure is integration into the labor market. Everyday working life not only promotes language acquisition, but also strengthens social skills and gives more self-confidence in a new environment. This is of great personal importance to those affected, but at the same time the additional workers are also an enrichment for the economy and society.”
Marko Krapec, Head of Employee Experience at McDonald’s Austria, emphasizes on the occasion of the joint career platform in Eisenstadt: “As the system catering market leader, McDonald’s Austria stands for diversity, respect and perspectives with its around 9,600 employees from 92 nations. Together with our 40 franchisees, most of whom are family businesses and employ around 50 people per restaurant, we are committed to equal opportunities and integration throughout Austria – for example in the form of free online German courses for employees – regardless of their previous knowledge. With its career platform, the Austrian Integration Fund makes an important and valuable contribution to supporting displaced people and those entitled to asylum in starting their careers in Austria and bringing them together with companies that can provide them with the best possible support and support in their integration into the labor market. That’s why we as McDonald’s Austria are an ongoing, proud partner of this project and support the ÖIF’s projects.”
Simona Mayerhofer, head of the ÖIF Integration Center Burgenland: “Learning German and working are essential for successful integration. So that immigrants can combine this as best as possible, the ÖIF supports, among other things, with its comprehensive part-time German learning offer and the nationwide ÖIF career platforms in language acquisition and rapid entry into the Austrian labor market.
