France initiated new environmental regulations on Saturday. The sale of certain fruits and vegetables in plastic packaging is now banned.
The year 2022 commenced with notable lifestyle adjustments. Specifically, supermarket aisles will see a reduction in plastic packaging for fruits and vegetables weighing less than 1.5 kg. However, exceptions exist, particularly for delicate produce like berries, which may deteriorate if sold unpackaged.
Further environmental advancements include a novel vehicle tax based on vehicle mass. Vehicles exceeding 1.8 tonnes will face an additional levy, complementing the existing CO2 emissions tax, reflecting the correlation between vehicle weight and pollution levels.
Healthcare also experienced changes. Contraceptive services are now free for women aged 25 and under. Previously, this benefit was limited to minors. A standardized emergency care package of 19.61 euros has been established. In contrast to the previous variable pricing and delayed billing, this simplification aims to streamline payments, still managed by mutual insurance companies.
