“The new hotel is an economic boost for Freistadt and our region and a strong tourist impulse for the Mühlviertel,” says Christian Naderer, chairman of the Freistadt Chamber of Commerce, at his own pre-opening for the economy. Dietmar Wolfsegger, head of the WKO Freistadt, was overwhelmed by the huge interest: “100 tickets were available for participation. In a few days, however, there was a rush of around 400 registrations. This shows the curiosity on the one hand and the high pressure of expectations on the other hand .”
Efforts in Freistadt to expand the range of overnight stays in the higher qualified area go back more than 25 years. On September 4th, the 4-star superior Impulshotel Freigold will open its 111 rooms and suites. Naderer sees this as a triple regional impulse for the entire economy. Firstly, for regional companies: the hotel is an important source of footfall, which can lead to additional sales for many businesses, and it offers top accommodation for business partners and guests of national companies. Secondly for the tourism location: With its innovative concept, the hotel appeals to new groups of guests and a new attitude towards life. And thirdly, the new range of beds should stimulate the development of the Mühlviertel exhibition center with its two modern exhibition halls, which will also become more attractive for congresses and multi-day events. Naderer and Wolfsegger congratulated Dietmar Hehenberger on his “great hotel investment, which may be the crowning achievement of his life”.
Naderer, with a smile: “With the height of the hotel of over 40 meters, Hehenberger even trumps the Habsburgs with the keep in Freistadt Castle. The Hotel Freigold is the highest tourist lighthouse in the Mühlviertel.”
