Entrants: Medicine starts, with the challenge of face-to-face

last year there was a demand for face-to-face classes in medicine/archive

This week the activity is launched for a good part of the UNLP faculties system. In particular, the expectation will focus on the Medicine challenge consisting of a return to face-to-face classes, following the three-year virtual compass that the pandemic imposed for a crowd of around 7,200 thousand entrants.

By far (Psychology and Humanities follow in volume, with some 3,000 enrollments) Medicine is the school with the greatest influx and not for so long. Since the eliminatory admission course was annulled in 2015 (at the request of a national law), it practically multiplied its enrollment and admission by ten until it came to concentrate, in relative numbers, more than 20 percent of the total of the University.

The classes were maintained in a virtual format there beyond the deadline set for the rest of the 17 faculties to return to the classroom. Virtuality as a didactic method, added to the context of massiveness, appeared among the apparent causes of a succession of bochazos registered in Medicine in recent times.

The course has 8 meetings (two classes per week, two hours each). It will be dictated at the headquarters, 60 and 120; in the Nutrition Degree: 12 and 161 – 3rd floor (Berisso); Degree in Obstetrics: University Pavilion (Calle 71 between 1 and 116); University Nursing: El Dique Headquarters, 51 Nº 249-299, Ensenada; and that of the Technician in Cardiological Practices: Calle 7 between 63 and 64 (La Plata).

The start of activities for entrants this week is also expected in Agronomy, the Observatory, Economic Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, Exact Sciences, Law, Dentistry and Journalism. Psychology and Social Work start on February 6. Also that week, with differentiated schemes according to the career, the activity in Humanities will be launched.

Last week classes began in Engineering and Computer Engineering, one of the Computer Science majors. The rest goes live today. The activities in this faculty will be carried out in person.

The five careers that are taught in Computer Science -a school that increased in number of entrants to close to 2,000 and remain among the most sought following academic units- are: Bachelor’s Degree in Systems, Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering; University Programmer Analyst; and Analyst in Information and Communication Technologies.
