Indonesian men’s DOUBLE, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, managed to reach the final of the All England 2024. Fajar/Rian defeated Japan’s representatives, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi, in two straight games 21-18 and 21-18.

Fajar said he didn’t expect to be able to turn things around in the second game to ensure victory. Even though they were behind in scoring points in the game.

“Earlier, the key was in the serve. The combination of serves that we used when we were behind was an effective weapon to win point following point. We are sure of the short serve, long serve and drive serve,” said Fajar in his statement.

Even though he felt unified in the game and made it to the final, Fajar admitted that there were still several things that needed to be improved. Moreover, in the final match, he feels he is in the same strong position as his opponent from Malaysia, Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik.

“We feel that we can play more enjoyably here. However, even though we have reached the final, there are still many shortcomings that need to be corrected, reducing our own mistakes,” said Fajar.

“Tomorrow in the final the odds are 50:50. We have won once morest them, we have lost too. Our opponents played very well in this tournament. Hopefully tomorrow we can beat them,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rian admitted that he was very motivated by the achievements of Indonesian men’s singles, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Jonatan Christie, who managed to reach the final. He said that he also wanted to present the 2024 All England champion title to Indonesia.

“The all-Indonesian final in men’s singles certainly added to our motivation in this match. We also want to present the All England title to Indonesia. So tomorrow we want to try our best,” said Rian. (Z-2)
