ORGANIZERS of the MotoGP World Championship, namely the International Federation of Motor Racing (FIM), the International Motor Racing Team Association (IRTA), and Dorna Sports have officially stated that India is included in the championship calendar for the 2026 season. Quoted from the official MotoGP statement, Thursday (26/9), The Indian Grand Prix is not only included in the world championship series in 2026, but is also a reserve event for 2025.

“Operational conditions require this event to be postponed from its original slot near the start of the 2025 calendar. As there are no available dates towards the end of the season, MotoGP will return to India at an early stage in 2026,” MotoGP said.

Both MotoGP and the main partner of the Indian GP, InvestUP, stated that they continue to work hard to bring MotoGP back to the Buddh International Circuit with a world-class event. Apart from that, both parties are committed to establishing India as a destination for global sporting events.

“Our collaboration with InvestUP to bring MotoGP back to India continues to lay a fantastic foundation for the future and MotoGP looks forward to racing in front of our incredible Indian fans,” said MotoGP. Previously, the Buddh International Circuit was ready to host the Indian Grand Prix until the 2027 season.

The confirmation that the Indian GP will be on the calendar from 2025-2027 follows a new contract between the motor racing world championship and Uttar Pradesh government body InvestUP. This effort is a continuation of India’s debut on the MotoGP calendar in 2023. (Ant/Z-2)
