This weekend, hundreds of thousands of festival-goers from all over the world will come to Boom, near Antwerp, for the Tomorrowland festival. A massive presence for a weekend that promises to be very musical but also very festive!

Unfortunately, insecurity is present everywhere and malicious people will also go to Tomorrowland and other festivals. There are even very well organized professional gangs that go there and have only one objective: to steal cell phones and jewelry. Reason why the Antwerp police warn a few hours from one of the biggest festivals in the world. “One of the main pieces of advice we can give people is to enjoy the festival, but not to film it”, explains a police officer to our colleagues from the Nieuwsblad.

If you are ever robbed, the police insist that you report it. “Even the security of the Tomorrowland site is sensitized. The more information we receive, the better”, explains another policeman who evokes gangs which have been raging for decades all over the world and which have been operating in Belgium since 2010, where the first reports concerning one of these gangs have discovered during the Laundry Day festival in Antwerp. “These reports are very important for the ensuing sanctions. Ordinary theft carries a maximum sentence of three years. If further investigation reveals the existence of a gang, this sentence is already increased to five years.”
