Ensuring Pilgrims’ Safety and Security: Heightened Measures in Place for Hajj 2021

Makkah | With only days and nights left for the holy Hajj, the holy places that are the venue for the Hajj are under tight security. The Home Ministry’s security plans are fully geared up for this year’s Hajj season. Saudi Director of Public Security and Head of the Hajj Security Committee Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al Bassami said that the Kingdom is ready to deal with any threats to pilgrims’ security and activities that endanger the safety and well-being of pilgrims. He announced this in a joint press conference called in Makkah to explain regarding Hajj security

The force has been deployed to ensure surveillance of pilgrims and to deal with emergency situations. Special plans have been put in place to facilitate the movement of pilgrims within the Masjid al-Haram, central area and holy places, and to control traffic at the entrance gates of the holy city of Makkah to security checkpoints.

An effective management and traffic organization system has been implemented to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and pedestrians and maintenance of major roads.

Major General Mohammad Al-Amri, Commander of the Special Emergency Forces in the National Security Presidency, said that the presence of emergency forces will be maintained in all areas witnessing the Hajj rituals in Makkah and the Prophet’s city of Madinah.

Major General Dr. Hammoud Al-Faraj, Commander of the Civil Defense Force, said that continuous inspections are being carried out at the pilgrims’ residences and security arrangements are being made in the residences.
