Voted since 2010, the social orientation law is struggling to make people happy in the ranks of disabled people if we rely on the declarations of the president of the regional federation of Kolda. According to Boubacar Baldé, “5,000 disabled people are still waiting for their cards in the region. 3,000 others who already hold this card have so far been unable to enjoy 100% of the benefits offered by this card. This is why the regional federation of associations of disabled people in Kolda initiated this awareness and advocacy campaign in favor of the “effective application” of this law.
At the Kolda stage, this Tuesday, October 17, members of the departmental development and civil society committee, territorial elected officials and other actors in the protection of disabled people, are made aware of the requirements of this social layer during a workshop organized for this purpose. These requirements revolve around “the implementation of the implementing decrees of this law, in particular the appointment of the high authority in charge of disabled people, the provision at the level of each department of the support fund for disabled people’s projects “. Added to this is the satisfaction of their training needs among others, indicated Boubacar Baldé.
Who welcomes the support of the NGO AIDA which accompanies its federation in this fight. Coordinator Lucia Hermanz specifies that her organization carries out activities which promote the socio-economic inclusion of people with disabilities in the southern zone where the NGO AIDA also runs a literacy program, but also training in sign language for the deaf and mute. . Without forgetting, the support given to disabled sports leagues for respecting the right to leisure for all, among others.
