CCTV News: In the past few days, affected by less precipitation and higher temperatures, the central and northern regions of Hebei Province have experienced droughts of varying degrees. In June, the average precipitation in Hebei Province was only 29 mm, which was 60% less than the same period of normal years. At present, Hebei Province has launched a drought defense level IV emergency response.
In Ansu Town, Baoding, Hebei Province, the local irrigated land has already shown some drought conditions, and farmers are busy with irrigation. The reporter learned from the Baoding Municipal Water Conservancy Bureau that in June this year, the average rainfall in Baoding City was more than 70% less than that of the same period in previous years. The local area strengthens the overall management of drought-resistant water sources, solves the problem of temporary drinking difficulties due to drought, and implements summer irrigation through measures such as releasing water from reservoirs to ensure food security.
Since the beginning of this year, the average precipitation in Hebei Province has been 123.2 mm, which is 13% less than the same period of normal years. Especially in June, the average precipitation in the whole province is only 29 mm, which is 60% less than the same period of normal years. In response to the drought, the Hebei Provincial Department of Water Resources increased the frequency of soil moisture monitoring, strengthened the overall planning and management of water sources, and minimized losses.
