Enrique “Coti” Nosiglia: “Mauricio Macri overvalued himself, just as he overvalued the rain of investments”

The former Minister of the Interior of Raúl Alfonsín and historical operator of radicalism, Enrique “Coti” Nosigilia, gave an interview to Carlos Pagni on LN+ in which he analyzed national and international politics. In a section of the report, questioned the management of Mauricio Macri as president: “It was overvalued, just as it overvalued the possibility of an investment rain.” The former official, who does not usually appear in the media, also analyzed the relationship between current president Alberto Fernández and his vice president, Cristina Kirchner.

On Argentine Odyssey, “Coti” considered that this very positive image that, according to him, the former president had of himself ended up harming Argentines. “It ended up going very badly for us,” he said.

“(Mauricio) Macri did not understand politics as we understood it. I think that the possibility of a rain of investment and that things would be solved because a non-populist government won the elections to a populist government was overestimated.”, he opined. And he continued: “He thought that society was going to understand his political proposal and the things that happened happened.”

Even so, he insisted that it is never good to “predict” the poor performance of a government since “the fact that things go wrong for them means that millions of Argentines have to suffer the consequences of the lack of answers that affect society as a whole” .

Turning his analysis towards the ruling party, Nosiglia focused on the current link between the President and the Vice President. “Alberto Fernández has less power than Cristina Kirchner and more when he is within a political party that brought to power whom he is now second to him,” she opined.

He also highlighted the existence of a “conflict of power” between the two that, in his opinion, “will not be able to be resolved in the short term.” Along the same lines, he sentenced: “I don’t know how serious the relationship between Fernández and Kirchner is, but it seems to be the worst moment.”

A year before the presidential elections, the former Minister of the Interior predicted that Together for Change is the force that “would have the most chances of putting the future president.” However, he made it clear that “aspires” to the creation of a radical government and stressed that the movement “did many things” for that to happen.

“From [Raúl] Alfonsín here, we are the only ones who proposed to expand. We have been the party that has recently tried to incorporate more young leaders with a vocation for service. Among them Facundo Manes, Carolina Losada, Martín Lousteau and Martín Tetaz. And there are a few who see themselves as presidents, ”he detailed.

“The solution to the problems that Argentina has requires a greater critical mass. We are in a position to build a nation that prospers, that gives opportunities, that retains our human resources within Argentina, within the country”, he completed.
