Can the most popular Quebecer on social networks convince Americans to come visit Quebec? This is the bet that Destination Québec Cité made by recruiting the dancer Énola Bédard to extol the charms of the city where she grew up to its 25 million subscribers.

For the past week, the 23-year-old young artist and influencer, who has danced with big stars like Jennifer Lopez and Shania Twain, has been touring the capital’s tourist attractions to record videos that her 16.6 million followers on TikTok, as well as YouTube (4.4 million) and Instagram (2.6 million) can then view.

We were able to see the ex-candidate of Revolution dance and have fun in videos recorded at Château Frontenac, at the Ice Hotel, in Valcartier, at Montmorency Falls or in the middle of the river, in an ice canoe expedition.

“It’s really a great opportunity to share the beauties of Quebec with the people who follow me on my platforms,” says the person who has lived in Los Angeles for three years.

Young Californians in the crosshairs

The hiring of Énola Bédard is part of an advertising offensive to attract American tourists, mainly young Californians, where the Quebecer is very well known.

“The Californian market is younger, they need to see what’s in fashion and Énola Bédard’s audience is 47% American,” he told TVA News the director of the Business and Destination Development Division at Destination Québec Cité, Simon Marinier.

The organization works with around forty influencers annually. The investment would be worth it. The appearance of NBC’s popular Hoda and Jenna at the Quebec Carnival in 2023 would have generated an increase in visits from Americans, says Mr. Marinier.

Globe-trotter

Contracts like the one she carries out in Quebec constitute the majority of Énola Bédard’s livelihood, which is in high demand.

“Making videos has allowed me to travel all over the world. I traveled to Morocco, Abu Dhabi, Turkey, Bali, Hawaii. I can dance around the world,” she rejoices.

She says companies started approaching her when she reached six million followers on TikTok.

Chanter

In addition to dancing and promoting brands and destinations, Énola Bédard sings.

“Currently, I’m working on a mini-tour. In September, I will go to Los Angeles, New York and Montreal to present new songs and dance.

An album is in the plans. She undoubtedly has all the talents.
