Since 2009, the Albanian Eno Peci has been the first soloist in the Vienna State Ballet, to which he has been a member since 2000. He got there on an adventurous journey at the end of the 90s, when he came to Vienna via Italy and, without any knowledge of the language, but with tireless will, managed to be admitted to the ballet academy. Peci thrilled in star roles like “Spartacus” or “Don Quixote” and always amazes with his precise body language and distinctive acting skills. As a choreographer, he directed the ballet interludes at the Opera Ball in 2018 and 2020, among other things. In conversation with Judith Hoffmann, the dancer and choreographer talks regarding the art of telling a story without words, but with every muscle – from the scalp to the little toe. He talks regarding the hopelessness in Albania in the 90s and the creative drive to bring new dance pieces to the stage.
