The Department of University Wellbeing, led by Nohora Robayo and the Human Development area, presented to the general secretary, José Fernando Rubio, and the student councils, the ‘Your Wellbeing in the classroom’ strategy and the ‘Psychological first aid kit’ .

With the firm purpose of facilitating the promotion of socio-emotional and psycho-pedagogical skills, aimed at the comprehensive education of our students, Tu Bienestar begins the implementation phase of these strategies, which were cataloged by the Academic Directorate as innovative practices and that seek an approach in the classrooms with the Externadist community, to address the different needs of young people and positively impact their university life and mental health.

The Secretary General thanked Tu Bienestar for the effort it is making to generate all possible conditions to improve the university experience of the student population, an objective that responds to the interest of the current administration of the University to offer quality spaces that provide assistance and accompaniment to Externadistas: “these University Wellbeing strategies are marking a progressive beginning of what we want being at the Externado to become.”

During the meeting, the Human Development team of Tu Bienestar presented the ‘Your Wellbeing in the classroom’ strategy, with which direct relationships are created between the counselors and the Wellbeing professionals through the ‘Ambassadors’ program. ‘. With this, the counselors of each faculty of the University and the Multicultural Interactions Program will have a direct link in University Wellbeing to attend to immediate needs and create personalized interventions that solve certain situations that may occur inside the classrooms. .

The needs that normally arise are of a personal, social, health and/or learning nature; To solve them, Tu Bienestar has an intervention offer among which the following stand out: assertive communication, time management, group work and study techniques.

On the other hand, the Human Development team, together with MediExpress, prepared and delivered to the counselors a ‘Psychological First Aid Kit’, in which they provide tools to understand and effectively address the emotional and psychological challenges that may arise in the educational context.

“This kit empowers our community to provide immediate support to those facing difficult emotional situations. It is made up of simple and effective intervention tools and strategies, designed to be used by any member of the university community; and includes information on emergency hotlines and resources to support those who require immediate attention”: University Wellbeing.

The director of Tu Bienestar, Nohora Robayo, invited the counselors to appropriate these strategies and begin to work in an articulated manner so that the students discover all the offerings that the University makes available to them for that they live the best experience in their House of Studies and acquire tools to face any situation that arises in other areas of their life.

The counselors pleasantly received all the information regarding the new resources that Bienestar offers.

“I have had the opportunity to work in some workshops with University Wellbeing and I can guarantee that these activities make it possible for students and teachers to articulate all that socio-emotional management to academic content, two worlds that sometimes seem like they cannot converge in the same space. , but they are very important to guarantee comprehensive training. I significantly value this very creative effort that the Department and the University are making,” said Cindy Galvis, advisor and academic coordinator of the Faculty of Cultural Heritage Studies.
