Spain has become the world champion for the first time after defeating England in the final of the Women’s Football World Cup.
In this final played on Sunday in Australia, the captain of Spain’s women’s team, Olga Carmona, scored the only goal of the match for her team.
Spain won the title of world champion by defeating England by one goal to zero in the final in front of more than 74,000 spectators.
Earlier, Spain reached the final by defeating Sweden in the semi-finals while England’s women’s team defeated Australia.
Spain is the fifth team in the history of the FIFA Women’s World Cup to become world champions. USA, Germany, Norway and Japan have won the World Cup since 1991.
