Enfamil brand infant formula recalled due to possible bacteria contamination Cronobacter sakazakii.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) indicated on Sunday that the formulas affected by this recall were sold across the country under the name “Nutramigen A+ LGG Hypoallergenic (infant formula)”, in formats of 561g and 4 x 561 g.
The packages bear the UPC numbers “0 56796 00498 2” and “0 56796 00498 5”, as well as the codes and expiration date: “Item# 3230626”, “Expiry 01-JA-2025”, “Batch # 0704376 (ZL3FVY)”.
Anyone who possesses these preparations should throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
“Food contaminated with Cronobacter sakazakii do not necessarily show any visible alteration or suspicious odor, but can still make you sick,” the CFIA said.
This bacteria can, in rare cases, cause rare infections of the bloodstream and central nervous system. It has also been linked to serious intestinal infections and blood poisoning, particularly in newborns.
