The Flemish government should take measures to support companies and individuals to get through the energy crisis, to the tune of 500 million or 1 billion euros, indicated the president of the Open Vld, Egbert Lachaert, during a party congress on Saturday in Antwerp. “Every day I get signals from businesses big and small whose energy bills have gotten too high. We still have two weeks before drama happens.
The theme of this congress organized at Kinepolis was freedom, but it was energy prices that fueled the discussions. The policy of the Flemish and federal governments within which the Open Vld finds itself was also discussed.
“The federal government took measures yesterday (Friday, editor’s note) for families. It is up to Flanders now not to forget initiatives for businesses”, adds Mr. Lachaert.
“We do not want to burden the budget. We simply ask to take measures today, for a winter, of the order of 500 million to 1 billion euros. We can then work towards a return to a balanced budget. for 2027. Bear in mind that the feds had to help families with a much worse cash flow.”
