By Tuesday morning, the price of gas on the main Dutch futures market had fallen further to 182 euros per megawatt hour. The record dates back to last month, at 346.5 euros at the close.
The European Union will reveal further details on Wednesday on how the energy crisis will be handled. In particular, Member States have asked the European Commission to propose a gas price cap. Germany, among others, opposed it.
