Energy price: the procedure for granting the fuel oil check is approved by the government

The Council of Ministers approved on Friday the procedure regulating the granting of a reduction voucher of 200 euros for households that heat with oil or propane, announced the Minister of the Economy, Pierre-Yves Dermagne.

This measure is part of the decisions taken in March with a view to relieving households in the face of soaring energy prices. “More than one in five Belgians heats with oil or propane. To help them when prices reach peaks, the government has released a budget of 210 million euros“, recalled the minister. “In collaboration with the sector, we have developed a simple application procedure to make the granting of a check for 200 euros accessible. As soon as Parliament gives the green light, those who are concerned will be able to request the check“.

The oil check is intended for households that heat their main residence with bulk oil or propane. It can be paid to a single household for filling a cistern at home between November 15, 2021 and November 15, 2022. It is available to both people living in single-family homes and those living in apartments.

The FPS Economy will be responsible for paying the 200 euros as well as checking the files. Consumers will need to provide a copy of the invoice, proof of payment with account number and national register number. The check can be requested online via a tool developed by the FPS Economy. The request can also be submitted using a paper form provided by the distributors and sent by registered mail to the FPS Economy.
