Many Belgians have already received a letter from their energy supplier in recent days, informing them that their bill may be reduced following a downward trend in energy prices.
“Dear customer, energy prices have shown a noticeable downward trend in recent months. When will you see the difference on your contract? NOW ! “. This is the letter received by many Engie customers. A news that makes us happy, following the difficult period that we have known.
“At the end of June, we will have written to around 900,000 customers”, explains Nele Scheerlinck, spokesperson for Engie. “In regarding 70% of cases, it is a reduction. In the remaining 30%, it is an increase. This can be the result, for example, of the installation of additional devices or the modification of the family composition,” adds the spokesperson.
And Engie is not the only supplier to bring the good news to its customers. “The sector has committed to reviewing the progress of all variable contract holders three times a year,” explains Mar Van den Bosch of the energy suppliers’ federation. “If there is a significant difference with the forecast of the final invoice, the customer proactively receives a proposal to adjust his advances,” he adds.
