Energy in Luxembourg : The gas bill will more than double for SUDenergie customers
LUXEMBOURG – The gas supplier will increase its tariff by 110% from October 1, the director tells 100.7. 38,000 households are concerned.
The gas supplier SUDenergie will increase the gas tariff by 110% from October 1st. This is indicated by Alain Fürpass, the director, in an interview granted to our colleagues from 100.7. SUDenergie supplies 38,000 households in Luxembourg, which represents 49% of all households that receive gas. Alain Fürpass explains that the bill for an average customer with a consumption of 2,700 cubic meters per year will go from 2,400 to 5,300 euros.
The director says he is aware that some customers will not be able to pay the bill. “We will always try to come to terms with them,” promises the director, who indicates that the subject will be discussed with the social offices in the coming weeks. Alain Fürpass also points out that the gas supplier would be very responsive: if the price on the market drops, the tariff would also be adapted and reduced once more “very quickly”.
Finally, he assures us that the company is “absolutely not” benefiting from this increase and that its margin will not increase. “I am referring to our shareholders, who are 14 municipalities,” he said. We are a very social company, and we really try to offer the customer the best possible price”.
