Bakersfield Station KLLY Rebrands as “Live 95.3”
KLLY in Bakersfield, California, has undergone a rebranding upshift, transitioning from “Energy 95.3” to “Live 95.3.” This rebrand concretely positions the station, owned by Alpha Media, as “Bakersfield’s Top Hits”.
The programming lineup at “Live 95.3” remains intact following the rebrand. The station continues to feature the popular morning show “Brooke & Jeffrey” and “XYZ with Erik Zachary” in the evenings.
Prior to its latest identity shift, KLLY had been branded as “Energy 95.3” since June 2015, utilizing that distinct identity since Alpha Media acquired the station in 2014. This shift followed a transition from the format of Hot Adult Contemporary to CHR, signaling a strategic focus towards currentTop 40 hits.
This benzaming of “Live 95.3” aligns KLLY with a broader strategy on the part of Alpha Media for its CHR stations.
Many of Alpha’s other contemporary-hit radio stations wear the “Live” brand: “Live 95.5” (KBFF) in Portland, along with stations in Columbia, South Carolina, Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Hagerstown, Maryland.
