The government has put in place various aids to financially support those who wish to replace their heating system or who are having difficulty paying their energy bill. The best-known support schemes are the energy check and MaPrimeRénov, but there are others no less advantageous.

MaPrimeRenov

MaPrimeRénov, is a system launched in 2010 in place of the CITE (tax credit for energy transition). With this help, you can finance various works to make your home more energy efficient. Regarding its amount, it depends on the income as well as the energy savings that the work will make it possible to achieve. In total, there are 4 beneficiary levels classified by color: “Blue” for very modest incomes, “Yellow” for modest incomes, “Purple” for intermediate incomes and “Pink” for higher incomes. To know exactly the amount to which you are entitled, you must carry out a request on the dedicated site.

Zero-rate eco-loan (Eco-PTZ)

This assistance is intended for people who need money to finance their energy renovation work. Its amount depends on the amount of work that must be carried out. It can vary from 7,000 euros for window replacement work to 50,000 euros if the work saves at least 35% of energy, removing the house from the status of an energy sieve.

Energy saving boost

The system called “Energy saving boost” remains active until the end of 2026, especially for certain types of heating. It is aimed at all families and can be used at the same time as MaPrimeRénov and Éco-PTZ. This aid gives the possibility of financing the replacement of an old boiler with a more efficient system. Concerning the amount, it varies from the income level of the household and the heating system chosen. For example, for an efficient biomass boiler, families with modest incomes will receive assistance of €4,000. For others, it’s €2,500.

VAT rate reduced to 5.5%

For most energy renovations in homes, the VAT rate is reduced to 5.5% instead of 20%. This reduction applies to residential buildings that were constructed more than 2 years ago before the start of work. Thus, for work to install a more efficient heating system, you can benefit from this reduction.

Energy check

Established in 2018, the energy check is granted to households to help them pay their energy bills. The allocation of this aid, maintained for this year of 2024, is however subject to resource conditions. As for its amount, it varies from 48 to 277 euros, depending on the composition of the household and its income level. It is important to note that no action is necessary to receive it. The check is therefore automatically sent by mail to the beneficiary’s home.
