The federal government decided in September to put in place a basic package to help holders of a residential gas and electricity contract. A monthly premium of 135 euros for gas and 61 euros for electricity has been decided for the months of November and December. In fact, this bonus was not granted for everyone in November. In this case, the reduction planned for this month will be added to that of December.
During the budget conclave in October, the government decided to extend this package until the end of winter, i.e. for the months of January, February and March 2023. ‘Energy Tinne Van der Straeten, which was validated on Wednesday. If market prices decrease, the intervention will also decrease proportionally via a government decision to be taken before the end of December.
The bonus is available to holders of a contract with a variable price or with a fixed price, concluded or renewed following September 30, 2021. End customers for gas who use a common heating installation also benefit from this support measure. Secondary residences are however not eligible.
The premium is tax-deductible. A special energy contribution is however provided for the highest incomes, beyond 62,000 euros annually, amount increased by 3,700 euros per dependent.
Only the N-VA abstained. The Flemish nationalists felt that the premium is not aimed at the households that need it the most.
The bill can now be placed on the plenary agenda.
