Faced with the significant increase in their costs, four network operators (Resa, AIEG, AIESH and REW) asked the Walloon Energy Commission (Cwape) for authorization to increase their around 15% as of January 2023, reports Le Soir on Wednesday. Only Ores will keep its prices.
The tariffs of the distribution network operators (GRD) in the south of the country were checked and frozen for five years (from 2019 to 2023) during the last analysis carried out by the Cwape. Four Walloon distributors – Resa (gas and electricity in the province of Liège), Wavre energy network, AIEG (electricity in the municipalities of Andenne, Gesves, Ohey, Rumes and Viroinval) and AIESH (electricity in Beaumont , Chimay, Couvin, Froidchapelle, Momignies and Sivry-Rance) – however, have just submitted a file to the regulator to request an (upward) revision of their tariff from January 2023. “The pricing methodology authorizes us to request a revision of the authorized income in the event of exceptional circumstances occurring during the regulatory period, provided that they have a lasting and significant impact on our financial situation and that these circumstances are beyond our control.“, explains the general manager of the Wavre Energy Network, Roger le Bussy.
The distribution network managers mention in particular the indexation of salaries, the increase in the price of materials and the rise in the cost of energy. The president of the Cwape, Stéphane Renier, confirms having received these four requests. Its teams are examining them and will make their decision by mid-December.
