The energy bill will probably go up in 2024 because grid operator TenneT has incurred more costs. An average household is expected to pay more than five tens more in fixed costs next year.
TenneT manages the national power network and has had to incur extra expenditure in recent years, for example because the energy it has purchased itself has become more expensive. The company also has to invest a lot of money in improving the power network, both on land and at sea.
The company expects that households with average consumption will have to pay 52 euros extra next year, or more than 4 euros per month. An SME even pays 376 euros more per year, which amounts to more than 31 euros extra per month.
Our energy bill consists partly of consumption costs and partly of other costs, such as taxes and costs of the energy supplier. The remunerations for network operators are also part of this.
The amounts stated are an estimate by TenneT itself. In the autumn, regulator ACM will determine what we actually have to pay in 2024 in network management costs.
