The Kyiv region awoke to tragedy on the morning of January 24th, 2025, as a series of devastating drone strikes ripped through civilian infrastructure, claiming the lives of three innocent people. The attacks, which sent shockwaves through the region, left a trail of destruction and despair in their wake.
Nikolai Kalashnik, the acting chairman of the kyiv Regional Military governance, confirmed the heartbreaking loss of life. “The deceased were discovered in the fire of a private house as an inevitable result of the fall of the wreckage of a downed target. Now the fire has been eliminated,” Kalashnik stated, his voice heavy with sorrow. He went on to describe the revelation of a second victim, a 36-year-old man, in another village where a 10-story building had been severely damaged.
By 7:35 AM, police reports confirmed the grim toll: three lives lost in the relentless drone attacks. The emergencies ministry painted a harrowing picture of widespread panic and destruction. In the Fastovshchin in Glevakh, Russian drones struck a 10-story building, setting it ablaze and causing damage spanning six to seven floors. Emergency responders worked tirelessly to evacuate 150 residents, rescuing a man from the 6th floor and a woman from the 9th floor. Tragically, the body of a man born in 1988 was also found within the building.
The city of Brovary was also targeted, with a residential building reduced to rubble by falling drone wreckage. A fire, engulfing an area of 120 square meters, erupted, consuming the building. The blaze was extinguished by 4:14 AM, but not before the body of a 1966-born man was found amidst the wreckage. The search for his 1965-born wife continues.
“The fire is eliminated. Now near the damaged high-rise building at the school, an indestructibility item for residents is working. A tent with water and hot drinks is also organized on the spot,” Kalashnik said, highlighting the immediate efforts to provide aid and comfort to those affected.
By 7:30 AM, the police reported widespread damage, including one apartment building with 11 affected apartments, eight private houses, three vehicles, a store, an outbuilding, and a fence. The full extent of the devastation, both physical and emotional, continues to unfold.
