Ducati RACER Enea Bastianini admitted that he made a blunder (big mistake) during the 2024 Indonesian GP main race at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Sunday (29/9).

At that time, Bastianini, who started to find his speed in the last 10 laps after occupying third position, fell at the first corner of lap 21, right after he recorded the fastest lap with 1 minute 30.539 seconds.

“I tried to exceed the limit on that lap and tried to fight on the last lap to win. But then I made this big mistake,” said the Italian racer, quoted Monday (30/9).

With the speed in the last 10 laps, Bastianini admitted that he was motivated to get the best podium position after one day earlier he secured second place in the Sprint podium behind teammate Francesco Bagnaia.

This, said Bastianini, was because he wanted to continue to disrupt and revive his chances of winning because he was 50 points away from Martin in the standings after the Sprint.

“Here to try to win. If possible, I can try,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bagnaia also regretted that his teammate fell when he had found speed on his motorbike.

According to him, this will be a valuable lesson for Bastianini to perform better in the remaining five series this season.

“So that’s something that happened to me many times,” said the racer who is familiarly called Pecco.

Bastianini currently occupies third place in the 2024 MotoGP standings with 291 points, a difference of 74 points from Jorge Martin in first position. (Ant/Z-1)
