Tonight (5th) TVB will broadcast a new two-hour extended version of “The Sound of Life”, with the theme of “Hong Kong Philharmonic and My Second Half of ‘City Life'”.
Team Lee Hacken and Miriam Yeung each sent 4 members to perform 4 rounds of solo PK. The lineup and playlist included Mao Buyi’s “The Lonely Patient”, Coco Lee’s “Dancing Street”, Li Jian’s “Footprints in the City”, Hacken Lee’s “Flying Flowers”, Zhang Zhilin “Wait”, Yan Mingxi “Heartless”, Liu Xijun “Challenge”, Zhou Bichang “Circle”, Miriam Yeung “How to Cry Tears” and Wang Yuan “Like the Wind”.
The PK singers who appeared in the first round were Yan Mingxi (Gigi) and Mao Buyi. Gigi was very excited to work with his “favorite” teacher Mao Buyi, and even made a “Mars gesture” to cheer him up. For Gigi, who has little experience in life, it is naturally difficult to interpret Joey Yung’s classic love song “Heartless”. Fortunately, she received a call from Joey Yung before the start of the competition to cheer her up and teach her singing secrets in person. Zuer said to Gigi, “This song is actually encouraging me ‘I will forget you’, you can’t be too shy, you have to let go and sing. The words must be firm, but they can’t bite hard, this is the hardest .” Zuer showed his humorous character, explaining while opening his mouth to demonstrate how to “articulate the words without being too hard”, which made Gigi laugh from ear to ear. Gigi said that she is a slow person, and it is a bit difficult to not be shy. Zuer then encouraged her: “If I’m here, you won’t be shy because I’ll tease you.”
Gigi revealed her little secret in this episode. It turns out that every time she goes on stage to sing a song, she always asks the teacher for tips and points to pay attention to, and writes them on the lyrics, so her lyrics list is full of dense notes, such as ” Strength, don’t be too vain”, “voice should be forward, don’t be loose”, “can’t be too easy, in a dangerous area”, “inner world is cold”, “pushed the voice to Mic and asked that person”. She said, “I wrote down what Mr. Zuer taught today, and he mentioned the articulation of words. In fact, I pay great attention to articulation, because I am often inaccurate.”
Although she said she was nervous before the competition, and also pointed out that the song was difficult, Gigi brought it to her hand when she sang the re-arranged “Heart Depression”, which was well received by Miriam Yeung, Li Jian, and Zhang Zhilin. Zhang Zhilin said: “It’s great! Her singing skills and emotional investment are beyond her age experience.” Gigi, who is naturally nervous, touched her face several times following singing, as if she wanted to relieve her tension.
