The United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) estimates that by 2022, there will be approximately 39 million people living with HIV worldwide. if not treated

In addition, UNAIDS added, “We are seeing clear progress in countries and regions that have the greatest amount of financial investment, such as East Africa. and Southern Africa The number of new HIV infections has decreased by 57% since 2010.”

However, the number of new infections has increased significantly in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

According to UNAIDS, “The main reason behind the increase in infections is the lack of HIV prevention services for both marginalized and mainstream populations. Plus the obstacles caused by legal penalties. and social discrimination”

However, last year There are 1.3 million new HIV infections and 630,000 deaths from AIDS.
